TYPE B lymphoma: the definition
Lymphoma is a cancer of the lymphatic system, and in particular lymph gland cancer, which can occur in different forms. Some are more aggressive than others, including mantle lymphomas, Burkitt lymphomas, peripheral T-lymphomas, lymphoblastic lymphomas, and large B-cell diffuse lymphomas. Type B lymphoma: aggressive lymph node cancer
Type B lymphoma (or diffuse lymphoma with large B cells) is a particularly aggressive lymph node cancer. It is lymphoma that is caused by the anarchic multiplication of B lymphocytes, the immune cells charged with making the antibodies. It also takes the name of diffuse lymphoma because its cancerous cells are scattered in the lymph node concerned. If this lymphoma is particularly aggressive, it is usually because it results in the formation of several tumors.
Locating lymph nodes
Usually, lymphomas are cancers that lie in the lymph nodes. However, B-type lymphomas can also be found in various organs such as bone, nervous system (brain and spinal cord) or digestive tract. But it is mainly in lymphoid organs, i.e. those that produce lymphocytes and blood cells that diffuse lymphomas with large B cells are found, i.e. in the spleen and bone marrow, liver or tonsils.
